Lowell C. Shaw
Lowell C. Shaw passed away peacefully at his daughter''s home on Saturday, December 17, 2011. He was born on January 14, 1926 in North Ogden to Parley and Lorene Shaw. He graduated from Weber High School. In 1946 he met the love of his life and best friend, Virginia Ferrin, whom he wed on January 10, 1952. Over the next 11 years, they would have six children. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 10, 1961.
Lowell C. Shaw was a man of integrity and honesty. He was devoted to his family whom he loved very much. He held many church callings including being a devoted home teacher, Elder''s Quorum Presidency, and Ward Clerk. His work ethic was superb in any task he performed. He had a reputation for his hard work, dedication, and thoroughness. He grew up in a different world where the attitude was work hard, don''t leave your work for others to finish, give all to your employer in return for the paycheck they give you. Lowell has spent his entire life living by these values and has never expected anything without working hard for it. He learned these values working with his father on their family farm. He took an interest in farm mechanics which led him to buying his first two-ton truck to haul fruit for local growers. Virginia helped load and unload the trucks all she could. They were always together helping each other in life''s challenges. In 1951, Lowell became C.R. England''s second paid truck driver. Joining him in 1955, Virginia became their first female driver. Virginia and Lowell spent 59 years in a loyal and loving marriage. They chose the wording on their headstone to read, "Old truckers never die, they just take a different route".
In 1985 at the age of 59, he went to work for Kimberly Clark for 20 years, retiring at the age of 79. Having grown up on a farm, Lowell believed in stewardship of our natural environment. He was a member of the Weber Wildlife Federation for over 40 years and served as President for 25 years.
He is survived by his six children, Susan (Gordon) Bryner of Harrisville; Clark (Colleen) Shaw of Clinton; Leann (Daniel) Hammer of Ogden; Sandra (Dan) Bodily of Clinton; Lynne (Dave) Olsen of Farr West; and Coleen (Steve) Burgess of Plain City; 19 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Cecil (Melba), Roland (Suzie), and Claron (JeNeal); and one sister, Connie Shaw.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Shaw; his parents, Parley and Lorene Shaw; two brothers, Merrill and Lamar; and a grandson, Jared.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 23, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist''s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North Washington Blvd. Friends may visit family on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery, North Ogden.
The family would like to give special thanks to Access Home Health Care and Hospice, especially Dawn, Alan, Julie, and Bonnie, for their compassionate and loving care of our father.
