Luana Clarke

September 10, 1945 ~ May 17, 2018

Luana Clarke left her earthly life on May 17, 2018. Luana was born on September 10, 1945 to Glen Wallace Clarke and Lulu Fern Meyers in Rexburg, Idaho, while her father was serving in the Army Air Corps. She was the oldest of four children. Luana’s childhood was a happy one as she made friends easily and enjoyed her school activities. She was a great example of her Hawaiian name given to her by her father with its meaning of “happy or joyful”. She was a Songleader at Mount Ogden Jr. High School. She graduated from Ogden High School in 1963. She earned her Associate Degree in Business from Weber State College.

She married Richard Taggart Grossenbach on June 11, 1965, and had two daughters, Cindy and Jill, whom she cherished. They later divorced.

Luana had an early interest in dancing and looked forward to her weekly class of tap, toe, and ballet dancing. Later, her dad was especially pleased when she attended hula classes and learned to play the ukulele. He was even more delighted when she was dancing with her two girls, Cindy and Jill.

She had a talent for singing and always enjoyed singing in the school choirs and spent many happy memories at the piano. Music has always been a big part of her life.

Luana was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was always devoted to any calling that she had. She served faithfully in the office of the Seattle Temple for the past eight years.

She had a full and flourishing business career working at Defense Depot Ogden, McKay Dee Hospital, and Hill Air Force Base, devoting more than 30 years to Civilian Service. She retired from the Department of Defense in Bellevue, Washington in 2009 as an Industrial Specialist.

Luana is survived by her two daughters, Cindy (Brian) Wellenhoffer and Jill (Chad) Pritchett; five grandchildren, Kaila Pritchett, Kylie Pritchett, Brooklyn Pritchett, Ashlyn Wellenhoffer, and Austin Pritchett; her brother, Roger (Janet) Clarke; and sisters, Suzanne (Steve) Carrigan and Catherine (Kent) Wimmer.

We will miss her smile, her laughter, and all the happiness she brought with her wherever she went.
