Lucien Joseph (LJ) Berube
July 11, 1923 ~ March 31, 2016
Joseph Lucien Leo Berube (L J) our wonderful father, grandfather and greatest grandfather passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on March 31, 2016, returning to his heavenly father and reuniting with his lifelong love and wife Margery.
He was born on July 11, 1923 in Ashton, R.I. to Wilfird Berube and Yvonne Page. He grew up on the East Coast, joined the Navy at an early age and was assigned to the Naval Supply Depot in Clearfield, Utah. Here he met Margery Owens Berube, and they were married on April 13, 1946 and later sealed in the Logan LDS temple April 13, 1955.
L J worked for the ITT bakery. He was one of the first television and radio repairmen in Northern Utah and owned L J’S Radio & TV Service for forty years. He was known as the man that could fix anything. He retired from Hill Air Force Base, Civil Engineering Division.
He was an avid Utah Jazz fan. He made friends wherever he went and had a great sense of humor. He had a joke for every occasion. He was a regular fixture at Lee’s Market.
L J was a convert to the LDS Church and had a strong faith. He loved to sing in the ward choirs and was a dedicated home teacher.
Lucien is survived by his four children, twins, Carl O. Berube, Syracuse, and Carleen B. Richards, West Valley City; sons, Donald J. (Shirley) Berube, Layton and Sylvester Neal (Jeana) Berube, North Ogden; 17 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
Lucien was preceded in death by his wife Margery; parents; brother, Rene; daughter-in-law, Carla J. Berube; grandson, Michael Berube; and great-grandchildren, Sydney Richards and Leo and Janette Page, who reared him for many years.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at 11 a.m. in the North Ogden 21st LDS Ward Chapel, 626 East 2600 North. Friends may gather with the family on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd., and 10:00 to10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the services. Interment at Washington Heights Memorial Park.
The family would like to thank L J’s great neighbors and ward members for all of their loving care and patience. Thanks to the wonderful professionals at the McKay Dee Hospice unit and to Dr. Robert Moesinger.
