Lucille Alice Bradberry Bailey

March 20, 1924 ~ July 10, 2017

Lucille passed away on July 10, 2017 in Huntsville, UT. She was born to goodly parents, Edith Brakefield and Lonza Allen Bradberry on March 20, 1924 in Lordsburg, New Mexico. There to welcome her arrival were one brother, Marvin and four sisters, Elva, Martha, Leta, and Ruth. After her birth her sister, Margaret and brother, Alton joined the family.

Lucille was blessed to live within a very loving and happy family where joy and fun times abounded. There was much music in the home provided by her father, sisters, and other family members.

She attended schools locally and graduated in 1942 from high school as valedictorian. At age 16 she was employed part-time at Mountain States Telephone Co. After graduation, she was employed at Community Public Service Co. (Power  and Light), and later at the U.S. Post Office there in Lordsburg.

She met and later married Halvor Bailey on December 22, 1942. He had been serving the Army in the Aleutian Islands., then transferred to El Paso, TX, and later as a military policeman to the prisoner of war internment camp in Lordsburg.  He received his military discharge in October 1945 and they moved to Huntsville, Utah. They bought his former home and raised their five children there.

They enjoyed living in the country and developing trout ponds, going to the mountains and entertaining friends.

Lucille was employed by the U.S Post Office in Huntsville for 30 years, the last 15 years serving as Post Master. She thought it was the best job ever and really enjoyed seeing the local people daily and meeting new residents moving into the valley.

She was an avid reader and devoted member of her church where she held various positions. She especially enjoyed working with the little children, doing extraction work and going to the temple.

Her loving children are Bradley (Dixie), Von (Valee) – both deceased, Lyle (Lisa), Judy (Danny) Walton, and Leta Bailey.  She is also survived by 16 precious grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren whom she loved. She is also survived by her sister, Margaret (Leon) Speer.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Huntsville Stake Center, 6500 East 1900 North, Eden. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Huntsville Cemetery.
