"TOGETHER AGAIN"

Lucille Gretchen Underhill Barton passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2014 in Layton, Utah.

Mom was born August 26, 1925 in Grand Junction, Colorado to Elam and Gladys Underhill. She was the youngest of four daughters. Mom would often regale us with stories of her adventures in the desert behind their home,. Many hours were spent on picnics, and exploring with her best friend, Vanetta. While attending high school Mom worked in a peach canning facility to help in the war effort, unfortunately it was during this period she developed an absolute hatred for the fuzzy fruit.

After graduating from Grand Junction High School, Mom came to Utah to attend what were then known as Post Schools. These were schools set up by the War Department to train civilians to work at Hill Field in different occupations. Mom became a supervisor in the Carburetor Shop, supporting repair of the Pratt and Whitney R-2800 engine.

While at Hill, Mom met and married Glen Barton. This union produced four sons. Although, Mom and Dad had only four sons it was apparent that all our friends soon became as close to Mom as her own boys.

Mom is survived by her four sons, Michael (Kathy), Keene (Pam), Kelly (Marion), and Jody. She is also survived by six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen, and a grandson, Jason Barton.

The family expresses deep appreciation for the care rendered by Country Pines, Rocky Mountain Car and Rocky Mountain Hospice.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. The family will meet with friends prior to the service from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, West Point Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the World Wildlife Fund.
