Lucille Bodily

September 10, 1923 ~ October 30, 2017

Heaven gained a beautiful angel as Lucille Poll Bodily passed into the arms of her sweetheart on October 30, 2017. They spent nearly 77 years together as man and wife, helping each other through every day. They were never far from one another and in later years were always holding hands. After his death, she just did not know how to live without him.

Lucille was born in Uintah, Utah, on September 10, 1923, the first child of George Henry and Myrtle Jane Nalder Poll. She was raised in South Weber, Utah, during the great depression. Her family owned a farm there where she learned the value and necessity of hard work and pulling together to make their way in the world. She spent much of her youth caring for her grandfather’s strawberry farm and enjoying and loving her cousins and extended family there.

Lucille met Robert Bodily at the White City Ball Room and soon fell in love with him as her lifelong companion. They were married on October 15, 1940 in the Salt Lake Temple. In 1942 Robert was called up to serve in the US Army during World War II. He was gone to war for 3 years. Lucille waited anxiously for his return at home with their baby daughter Colleen. They lived in Syracuse, Ogden, Roy, and North Ogden through the years.

Lucille was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was devoted to her family and a valiant servant of the Lord. She served in the Primary, Sunday School, Relief Society organizations, and was a Cub Scout Leader.

She served a mission with Robert as Administrators of the London Temple Visitor Center. She served faithfully in temple and family history work. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers organization and loved her heritage. She was a quiet, gentle person and a shining example to her family. Lucille had a beautiful singing voice and her family loved to hear her sing with Robert. She never said an unkind thing about anyone. Lucille was a hard worker and her home and children were always well loved and cared for. While her main occupation was caring for her family and home, she held several part time jobs, working for Ben Franklin’s, Jorgensen’s Book Store, Burger Bar, and Bingham’s Day Care Center, all in Roy.

Lucille loved camping with her family and traveling to visit family in other states. Her life was spent gardening; producing fruits, berries, and nuts, and preserving the fruits of her labors. She loved to share their bounty with family, friends, and neighbors. She enjoyed quilting and created many beautiful quilts for her family. She also enjoyed crochet and embroidery.

Surviving are her daughters, Colleen (David) Clay, North Ogden and Julianne (Paul) Gibby, North Ogden; her son, Robert Paul (Leisa) Bodily, Hooper; 14 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Erma Smith; and brother, Ralph (Arlene) Poll. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, daughter, Susan B. Taylor; and sisters, Verna (Harold) Anderson, Leah (Joe) Adams, and Afton (Lyle) Jorgenson.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 6, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.

The family wishes to express their deep gratitude for all who lovingly took care of our dear mother at Quail Meadow Assisted Living and Comfort Worx Hospice.
