Grace Lucille Prudent Rudd Bowden
OGDEN a" Our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt, Lucille Bowden, passed away at the home of her grandson following a short illness on Monday, August 4, 2008.
Lucille was born August 13, 1918 in Zeigler, Illinois, a daughter of Ernest C. and Artie May Jones Prudent. Her family moved to Preston, Idaho when she was 14. She graduated from Preston High School in 1936.
On December 17, 1938, she married Ira Del "Ted" Rudd. He died in a coal mine accident in Dines, Wyoming in 1943. On November 28, 1945, she married Stanley Harris Bowden in Preston, Idaho. He preceded her in death on May 4, 1977.
Lucille was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and at the time of her death was a member of the Sullivan Hollow 1st Ward in the Weber Heights Stake.
During World War II she worked as a guard at the Defense Depot Ogden. Following that, she worked for the Internal Revenue Service until her retirement in 1982. She also enjoyed volunteering at the Family History Center in Ogden and working for the Roy Schools in their lunch programs.
Her great loves in life were her family, helping others, her flower gardens, and researching family genealogy.
Surviving are her son, David Stanley Bowden, grandsons, Troy David (Amy) Bowden, Jason Bowden and Seth Bowden; and six great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are a step-brother, Robert Laird, a step-sister, Barbara (Richard) White, and many nieces, nephews and their children.
She was preceded in death by both of her husbands, a brother, Noel Prudent, a sister, Lillian Thelma Spackman, a step-brother, Dee Baird, a step-sister, Dot Baird and a grandson, Shane Alfred Bowden.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Friends may call at the mortuary Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday 10 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment, Aultorest Memorial Park.
