Lucille Evelyn Thompson Holley
OGDEN a" Lucille Thompson Holley slipped away from the bonds of this life to the open arms of her eternal companion, Glen, and entered into the peace of our Savior, Jesus Christ. She passed away Thursday, July 14, 2011 in her home surrounded by those she cherished, her family.
The daughter of William John Thompson and Thelma Moulding Thompson, Mom was born March 23, 1930 in Ogden, Utah. She was a life long resident of Ogden and Huntsville.
She married her "childhood sweetheart", Glen Victor Holley, on March 21, 1951 in the Logan LDS Temple. She was the mother of four children.
Mom loved her Savior, Jesus Christ, and was steadfast in the faith. Her heart was broken when health no longer permitted her to attend church. She was privileged to serve in many capacities in her LDS Ward and Stake. Mom and Dad served three full time missions, serving in Mexico with Dad as Mission President, as matron of the Lima Peru Temple, and as missionaries at the Carthage Jail in Nauvoo Illinois Mission.
Moms life exemplified the principle of "when you are in the service of your fellow beings, you are only in the service of your God." This was clear in the tender, loving things she did for her family, her neighbors and friends. Mom never thought of herself, but went out of her way to help others. Mom was loved and respected by all she knew. Her persistence and courage is unmatched and was admired by everyone. She was plagued with serious health problems most of her adult life, but she never let her problems slow her down and she never complained.
Mom''s greatest devotion was to God, to Dad and to her family and my how she loved us! She was an amazing cook, loved music and had a beautiful singing voice. One of her paintings hangs in almost every room of our houses. Her talents were unlimited. Most importantly she was kind and gentle and radiated joy and happiness and light. She was a grand lady. Oh how we miss her!
She was preceded in death by her eternal companion, Glen, who passed away September 29, 2007, her beloved step-father, Ned James Dalton, and a brother, Bill Thompson.
She is survived by her two sons and two daughters, Carol Ann and Peter Lindquist, Rick and MaryAnn Holley, Linda Holley and David Holley. Mom was blessed with great posterity with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Carol (Dallas) Buckway and one brother, Dennis (Gail) Dalton and one sister-in-law, LaVon Thompson.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Canyon Hollows Ward Chapel, 1550 Rushton Street, Ogden.
The family will meet with friends on Monday July 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. and prior to the services at the church, from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
