Lucinda "Cindy" Hall

December 4, 1946 — March 19, 2020

Lucinda (Cindy) was born December 4, 1946 to her parents, Charles O. Smith and Sara Dean Orton, in Cedar City, Utah. Her parents divorced while she was a teenager and later her mother married Byron Black. Her father also re-married and divorced several times.

Cindy grew up in Parowan, Utah, where she enjoy living in a small community and attended all of the schools. She met Lennis when his father purchased an automotive business owned by her Uncle Eldon shortly after he passed away in 1960. They were married in 1965 and lived in Layton, Utah for several years while Lennis was serving in the U. S. Air Force. Upon completion of his tour of duty they moved back to Parowan where Lennis worked again for his father and attended college. Upon his graduation they moved to Portland, Oregon where he worked as a bank examiner for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and she worked for Mervyn’s Department Store while raising their three children. In 1986 they moved to the San Francisco Bay area where he worked as a bank supervisor and she continued working for Mervyns and raising their children. Upon retirement in 2002 they move back to Utah to be with their friends and family here and have lived in Layton ever since. They were sealed in the Oakland Temple in 1975.

Her life was centered on her church, her marriage, her family, her grandchildren, and numerous friends. It was a good life, and she will be greatly missed. She and Lennis have been married 54 years. This world will not be the same without her laugh, jokes, love and sweet spirit. She loved her family more than anything in the world.

Cindy loved to do cross stitch and made many beautiful, complex, and wonderful items. She also loved to make quilts and baby blanket sets for her children, grandchildren and numerous other friends and acquaintances, which have been treasured by the recipients for many years. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints she served many years in the primary program and Cub Scout programs where she enjoyed and taught numerous children.

Although she grew up in Southern Utah, she had the opportunity to live in some beautiful places in Oregon and California before moving back and living here in Northern Utah for last 18 years.

She is survived by her husband, Lennis; two sons, Terry and James (Marni); daughter, Kimberly (Bobby) McClain, thirteen grandchildren, plus two step-brothers Clark (Sandy) Black, and Neal (Wyonna) Black. She was preceded in death by her parents, step father, and two brothers, Randy and Charles.

We, as a family, wish to thank so many really good friends, too many to mention, who have shown Cindy and her family so much kindness, caring and consideration. We especially like to thank all of the nurses and doctors who have treated and cared for her over past few years of her life.

I, as her husband, wish to say life with her has been a wonderful time and I couldn’t have anyone better to spend my life with. Her character, smile, caring and love for everyone has and will influence many in the future. She has provided many good memories for all who knew her.  Last of all, thanks to everyone for your thoughts, prayers and good deeds over the last few years and especially this week. May God Bless you.

Unfortunately, because meetings are currently prohibited because of the virus there will be no funeral.

However, a memorial service celebrating her life will be held later when it is permissible.

Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
