April 18. 1917 ~ August 14, 2015

Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-great-grandmother, Lucy Rebecca Hales, returned to Heavenly Father on Friday, August 14, 2015 at the age of 98. God saw her getting tired and a cure was not to be, so he put His arms around her and whispered "Come to me." With tearful eyes we watched her and saw her pass away. Although we loved her dearly we couldn't make her stay. Lucy was born April 18, 1917 in Ogden, Utah to Frank Verhaal and Johanna Arnout.

On September 24, 1938, Lucy married Robert A. Hales. They had one daughter, Marjorie. They enjoyed 63 years of a perfect marriage before his passing on January 25, 2001.

Lucy lived an exemplary life as a wife, mother and grandmother.

She was a faithful and active member of the First Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Marge and Blaine Newman, grandchildren, Becky (Mike) Taylor, Julie (Scott) Berry, Kim Palmer, Dane (Jodie) Palmer, seven great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, six step-great-grandchildren and four step-great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd, The family will meet with friends on Monday, August 17th from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
