Lucy Mary Hess Isakson

Lucy Mary Hess Isakson beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and sister left this mortal life on November 7, 2011 in her home surrounded by her loving family. Lucy Mary was born to George Marion and Chloe Knowlton Hess on January 1, 1922. She was the first baby of the New Year at the Thomas Dee memorial hospital in Ogden, Utah.

Lucy was raised in Farmington and various other Utah and Idaho cities. She attended college in southern Utah and then Iowa State in Ames, Iowa majoring in home economics. She received a Bachelor''s degree at Iowa State, but the biggest prize she won in Iowa was her future husband Eric Wilson Isakson. Lucy met Eric a student of Veterinary Medicine who just happened to be from Ogden, Utah. They were sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on October 9, 1944.

Shortly after their marriage, Dr. Isakson and Lucy were stationed in Georgia during World War II. After the war, they returned to Ogden and built the original Brookside veterinary clinic on 12th Street. They had four sons, Eric Hess, Steven Hess, Michael Hess, and David Robert (Hess). After Eric W''s untimely death in 1964, Lucy was blessed to find a job she loved at Weber State College. She loved working with the faculty and students and was loved in return. She retired in 1986 and soon went back to work volunteering for the LDS Church doing genealogy extractions for many years. She loved the Gospel of Jesus Christ and served in many church callings including Primary, YWMIA, and Relief Society and was a valiant visiting teacher.

She is survived by her 4 sons, 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, her sister Catherine Hogan, and brothers, Gerald Lawrence and Daniel Henry Hess.

Lucy was preceded in death by her eternal companion Eric W. Isakson, her parents George and Chloe Hess; 3 brothers, George Marion Hess Jr., Benjamin Knowlton Hess, and William Ralph Hess.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 11, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Weber Heights LDS Stake Center, 1401 Country Hills Drive. Friends may visit family on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., and Friday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.

The family expresses gratitude to Wasatch Care Center and Hearts for Hospice for their loving care over the past three months.
