SUNSET a€" Our precious beloved mother, Luella Viola Barlow, 87, passed into the arms of her Heavenly Father on Easter Sunday, April 12, 2009, surrounded by her loving family.

Luella was born July 31, 1921 in Deweyville, Utah the daughter of Lloyd E. and Viola Katherina Harry Lish.

She grew up in Deweyville, Utah, graduated from Bear River High School and attended Sophia University in Tokyo, Japan.

She had three wonderful children: Viola M. Pinkston, William (Bill) W. Manning Jr., and Gary L. (Debbie) Manning, eight adoring grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.

Luella worked for the U.S. Government at Hill Air Force Base, she also worked for the Far East Command in Toyko, Japan, where she was secretary to the Surgeon General Neece located in the Meji Building where General Douglas McArthur was stationed. She was secretary for the Board of Education in Price where she organized the first softball tournament and also became their pitcher. She was an all-star pitcher for the western USA.

She was a member of the LDS Church and held the several positions, Mutual Director, Games Leader, and dance director.

While living in Japan she was crowned the Rice Bowl Queen. She played the drums in an all girl''s orchestra. They played for High School and College dances and also at Crystal Springs. While in high school she was voted Miss Health Girl of Utah for two years.

Luella was the most compassionate and caring person. Her children and grandchildren were her life and she was theirs. We will miss her terribly and cherish all the beautiful memories she gave to us.

Also surviving are her brothers and sisters, Jay (Darlyne) Lish, Jr. Lloyd (Cherri) Lish, Ray (Kathryn) Lish, Kent (Susan) Lish, Marion "Lefty" (June) Lish, Barbra Evans, Jessie (George) Ball, Judy Petersen, and Karen (Golden) Sill. Preceded in death by her mother and father and three siblings: Renae Lish, Virginia Mitchell and Joe Lish.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 17, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Syracuse 7th Ward, 1625 So. 1100 W. Friends and family may call Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
