Luis J. Valentine
ROY – Luis Valentine of Roy died November 4, 2007, of injuries sustained in a stroke induced fall. He was born November 25, 1936, in Brigham City, to Glen and Esther Peterson Valentine.
Lou spent his early years in Lewiston, UT, and later returned to Brigham City where he attended and graduated from Box Elder High School. He also attended Utah State University. He married Connie Bingham in 1956 and had two sons. They later divorced. Lou worked at Hill AFB as a computer Analyst Specialist (on the “Brain Team”). His programs were used in the Air Force payroll systems nation wide. He served in the National Guard during his employment. After 30 years Lou retired and enjoyed socializing with “the guys’ at the Elk’s Lodge, and developing his considerable skills at pool and especially fishing.
Lou met his longtime companion Ruby Suekawa Atkinson after his retirement and they enjoyed 18 years of travel, fishing, and Wendover together. Ruby’s daughter Sheri and Lou became daughter and father for life. He will be greatly missed by his buddies Vic Durbano and Mitch Mitchell.
Lou is survived by his sons Ron (Kelle) Valentine of Ogden, Steve Valentine of Roy, their 6 children, and one great grandchild, Stepchildren Sheri Hirabayashi of Roy, Bobby Atkinson and Ryan Atkinson both of South Carolina, their 9 children, and one great grandchild. He is also survived by his brothers and sister: Robert (Joanne) of Pleasant View, Jarold (Carolyn) of St. George, Harold (Nancy) of Riverside, CA, Susan Valentine Koldewyn of Salt Lake City.
Preceding Lou in death were his parents and brother Dale E. Valentine.
Graveside services will be held Friday, November 9 at 1 p.m. at the Brigham City Cemetery.
Friends may call at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m.
