Baby Luke Darren Sims returned to our Savior’s arms after fighting a valiant fight on January 11, 2023, at 8:30 PM. Baby Luke was the son of Darren Bruce Sims and Shelley Aragon Sims.
Baby Luke you came 13 weeks early and you were teeny, tiny, but we couldn’t have been more in love. Baby Luke can I take a minute to tell you how much you were loved? In the five days that we loved you our family and our community completely fell head over heels in love with you. You were the sweetest baby. Your daddy loved to read to you in the hospital. Your mommy longed to hold your hand and to hold you every day in the NICU. You looked like your daddy’s twin, and we were both quite smitten. Baby Luke, we had so many dreams for you. Your daddy wanted to hug you and cradle you in his arms. Your daddy wished to teach you how to draw, build something amazing and he thought it would be so fun to help you learn how to ride a bike. Your daddy had great faith and he hoped to teach you about your heavenly father and missionary work. Your mommy really longed to hug and hold you. She dreamed of rocking you in her arms and kissing you good night. Your mommy had great hopes of teaching you about being your own individual and creatively living a passionate, loving life. Your mommy loved everything about you, and she couldn’t wait to teach you about our Heavenly parents and Jesus Christ. Your mommy loved your eyes, Luke, they were so beautiful and so blue. I wished that I could look upon them forever.
Baby Luke, let me tell you about your brothers. Your brother Jace is a talented artist and singer. He loves to work out and could have taught you so many things about being healthy and strong. Your brother Dax is a tall, big teddy bear. He loves people and is quite outgoing. He is very observant and loves giving presents. If you were still here, he would have told you about so many things and he would have given you several gifts. Your brothers seriously would have delighted you. I promise you Baby Luke that they were so very witty and funny. Luke we would have loved more than anything to see your smile and hear your laugh. My heart aches in wanting to see your sweet smile.
Besides all of us missing you. Baby Luke, you have loving grandparents, aunts and uncles, and many cousins that would have loved on you and made you feel extremely special. Grandma Rhonda is a favorite, because she makes the best cookies and blankets, and she loves to do all within her power to make you feel really special. Grandpa Ken would have teased you mercilessly, loved you deeply and I bet he would have thought you were so cute that he might have made you a screensaver. Grandpa Bruce was also loving and kind. He loved fiercely and was quite sweet. You would have loved him very much too.
Baby Luke, I know that you have joined our Savior, Jesus Christ, in God’s kingdom. Your daddy and I want you to know that we feel of your love, and we are so thankful for the 5 beautiful days on this earth that we were able to share with you. Thanks for bringing our family closer together Luke. We will hold your memory in our hearts until we see you again. Special thanks to the NICU nurses and doctors at Davis Hospital and to Dr. Miller for delivering and caring for our sweet Baby Luke. We would also like to thank Travis Jemmett for picking up Baby Luke and taking him to the mortuary.
