Our beloved LuRae Wilson, 71, broke free from this Earth to rejoin her loving family on July 20, 2024. “Rae” as she was fondly known as by all who knew her, was a beacon of light, source of strength, and provided unwavering support to all who knew her, especially her devoted family.
Rae was born on September 15, 1952, in Ogden, Utah. She was a person of great kindness and generosity, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer a word of encouragement. Her spirit and perseverance through challenging times brought joy and comfort to everyone around her.
In addition to her dedicated family life, she worked at Harmons Grocery for 25 years and Granite School District as a lunch aide. She was appreciated and valued by her colleagues. She graduated from Ogden High School where she met the love of her life, Kenneth Wilson, to whom she was married for 53 years.
Kenneth and Rae were inseparable. Their favorite adventures included traveling to and residing in their winter home in Arizona where they created long lasting friendships. In years past, they would enjoy Kenneth’s passion of flying, taking leisurely trips across the skies of Utah. Often, Ken and Rae, would be seen walking hand in hand smiling lovingly at each other. They were not only husband and wife; they were best friends.
Four of Rae’s greatest joys were her “furbabies”, Buffie, Tanya, Lacey, and Butchie. All have crossed the Rainbow Bridge and await the loving, snuggly arms of their mom.
Rae is survived by her attentive and loving husband, Kenneth, her rock, who sat by her side day after day throughout her brief illness; brother, Dennis (Carol) Hartmann; sister, Shauna (Robert) Prince; brother, Rodney (Julie) Hartmann; and sister, Geneal (Doug) Fox. Rae was also “Big Sister” to Lisa Henrie, a close family friend who Rae had always been a support for countless times. Rae was aunt to many nieces and nephews. Many thanks for the love and friendship to the Yuma, Arizona friends who are extended family to both Kenneth and Rae. She was preceded in death by her extraordinary parents, Robert and Helen Hartmann; her paternal and maternal grandparents; and uncles and aunts.
Our sweet Rae leaves a void that will not be filled. She’ll be remembered for her quick wit and quiet approach, but more so, her resolute nature in facing difficult times. She is deeply missed already but will be forever remembered in the hearts of her loved ones and friends. Her legacy of love, compassion, and dedication, especially throughout the years of loving care of her mother, will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her.
To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die. – Thomas Campbell
