Lura Faye Probst Bates

On July 22, 2021, at the age of 93, our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Lura Faye Probst Bates returned to a glorious reunion with family and friends.  She passed away in Layton, Utah surrounded by her loving family.

Faye was born February 5, 1928, in Midway, Utah to Nephi Probst and Eliza Elizabeth ("Beth") Beck.  She was the third of 10 children.  She married Hyrum Richard Bates on January 13, 1953 in the Salt Lake, Church f Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints temple.

Faye was an active member of the Kaysville 1st Ward, and was the oldest member at her passing.  She served in various callings in the Relief Society, Primary and Sunday School.

Her hobbies were gardening, baking, sewing and she was an avid reader.

Faye was very generous and taught by example to give to those who were less fortunate.

She is survived by three daughters Lorilyn (Dean) Sigler, Glenwood Springs, CO; Denise Beth (Marlon) Bird, Pleasant Grove, UT; Amy Bates, Kaysville, UT; seven grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by siblings, Emery (Marjorie) Probst, Geniel Bartholomew, Kyle (Paula) Probst, Paul (Joyce) Probst and Janice (Eddie) Hansen.

She was proceeded in death by her husband of 56 years, Hyrum Richard Bates, her son Gregory Bates, parents, Nephi and Beth Probst, and her siblings, Verle, Grant, Evan and Boyd.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at 11 a.m. at the Kaysville 1st Ward Chapel, 331 South 50 West, Kaysville, Utah.  Friends may visit with family members from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the church, prior to the funeral.  Following the funeral services, Interment will be in Midway, Utah cemetery.
