LuRee Van Wagenen

LuRee Van Wagenen, 80, passed away Thursday, July 24, 2014. She was born April 7, 1934 in Logan, UT to Bion and Lucille Morgan Tolman. She married Alfred C. Van Wagenen on September 1, 1955 in the Salt Lake Temple.

LuRee graduated from the University of Utah in Education. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many different callings throughout her life. She served a fulltime family history mission in Salt Lake City, a two-year mission with her husband who was Director of the Mormon Battalion Visitors Center in San Diego, and then served four years as an ordinance worker in the Bountiful Temple.

She was a member of the Clearfield Literary Club. She enjoyed classic movies, sewing, crocheting and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. LuRee taught 2nd grade, and preschool for many years.

LuRee is survived by sons Paul (Laura) Van Wagenen, David Bruce Van Wagenen; daughters Cheryl Fowles, Ruth Van Wagenen, 14 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; sisters: Janice (Ronald) Gygi, Sally Dee (Jay) Wimmer, Linda Kay (James) Smith, Kristie (Robert) Pitts. Preceded in death by her parents, her sister Carol Ann, son Steven, son-in-law Kevin Fowles and grandson Austin Van Wagenen.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Fruit Heights 10th Ward, 901 S. Mountain Rd., Fruit Heights, Utah. A viewing will be held on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd. and Wednesday at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, Salt Lake City, UT.
