Our loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend LuVern Helen Griffin passed away on Friday, March 11, 2016.  She was born in St. Joseph, MN on May 29, 1931 to Aloys G. and Hattie Bovy Theisen.

LuVern married Rex Griffin on August 5, 1952.  They began their life in Ogden, Utah.  LuVern dutifully followed Rex’s military career as they nurtured their growing family of four children. She devoted herself to God, her marriage and her children.  When her grandchildren came along she became “Nana” to everyone she knew.  Her love spanned four generations and her influence will be felt and honored for many more.

Mom had a creative touch that was expressed through cake decorating, cooking, and gardening.  She was the center of all our family gatherings.  Her greatest hope is that the example of her Life of Faith will continue to flourish in all those who loved her.  “You can make anything happen with the grace of God and a big spoon.”

LuVern is survived by her children, Patricia (Mel) Sarraf, Louis (Ev) Griffin, and Pamela Garner (Matt Ward); 12 grandchildren, Chantel, Anique, and Richard Beauregard, Shaheene Sarraf, Tawni Griffin-Carmitchel, Kristin Warden, Rex, Rachael, Jakob, and Joshua Griffin, Megan Rhynas, Shaina Corona; 20 great-grandchildren,  one great-great-grandchild; and sister, Marian Kremer.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Rex; her son, Michael; two grandchildren, Siobahn and Charvelle; two sisters, Olivia and Evelyn and three brothers, Raymond, Albert, and Walter.

Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 12 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1100 East 5550 South, South Ogden.  Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. with Rosary at 7 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.  Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd.
