Lydia Bernice Berdin

July 23, 1939 ~ February 24, 2017

Lydia Bernice Berdin, 77, of Ogden, passed away on Friday, February 24, 2017 at Ogden Regional Medical Center with her loving family at her side.

Born on July 23, 1939 in Sheridan, Wyoming, Lydia was the 5th of seven children of Abel D. Lopez and Benina Sanchez Lopez. At a young age, her family relocated from Wyoming to Utah, where Lydia attended both Clearfield and Clinton schools.

She married the love of her life, Elias Rosas Berdin on December 6, 1974 in Elko, Nevada and they were blessed with one daughter, Barbara.

Although Lydia worked outside of the home when she was younger, Elias was able to support their family, as she was a devoted mother and homemaker. Being with and serving her family was her passion, as she particularly enjoyed preparing meals for them.

Lydia was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Her legacy of faith has touched her family.

She enjoyed trips to Wendover, doing crossword puzzles and table puzzles, crocheting, and shopping, whether on QVC or in person, collecting her ‘treasures’ was a favorite hobby. Lydia enjoyed outings with her family and making memorable experiences.

Lydia is survived by her husband of 42 years, Elias Berdin, Ogden; daughter, Barbara (Lawrence, Jr.) Martinez, Roy; three grandchildren, Dylan Martinez, Roy, Alexeia Martinez, Clinton, and Savanna Martinez also of Roy; two great-grandchildren, Dion and Briggs Martinez; her dear brother, Arthur (Helen) Lopez also of Roy, and by her many nieces and nephews as well as her chihuahua, Chops.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Josephine Luevano, Johnny Lopez, Rosie Lopez, Helen Lucero, and Daniel Lopez.

The family would like to thank the staff of Ogden Regional Medical Center for their prompt care.

Per Lydia’s requests, private family services were held in her honor.  Cremation arrangements in care of Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
