Lyle Frederick Gailey

Lyle Frederick Gailey, 88, passed away Saturday, December 12, 2015 at McKay-Dee Hospital.

He was born May 20, 1927 in Tremonton, Utah to Max Beesley Gailey and Ireta Frederickson. He was raised in Tremonton and later Clearfield, Utah.

Lyle was inducted into the U.S. Marine Corps in the summer of 1945 and honorably discharged as a Private shortly thereafter as World War II ended.

He worked in the stock yards, at DDO, and at the Hamburger House. It was at this time he met a co-worker, Joyce. On June 10, 1948, Lyle married Joyce Ines Leavitt in Ogden, Utah.  They were married 67 years.

Lyle worked 43 years as a machine operator at Interpace Brick, before retiring. He then worked part-time there ten more years. He was a hardworking man, quiet, but very caring and friendly.

Lyle was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He loved gardening, especially growing tomatoes, traveling to Wendover and enjoyed gold panning, metal detecting and fishing and hunting with his good friends.

Lyle is survived by his wife, Joyce Gailey, Washington Terrace; Venna (Bob) Warlaumont, Washington Terrace; Kurt (Gayle) Gailey, Marriott-Slaterville; six grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; one brother, Jay (Esther) Gailey, Santa Cruz, CA; and one sister, Ireta Somerville, Washington Terrace. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother; Max; and a daughter, Tamara Gailey.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 17, 2015 at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.  The family will meet with friends Wednesday, December 16th from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.

The family thanks the physical therapists and CNAs at Pine View Transitional Rehab in Ogden and the nurses at Intermountain Hospice.
