Lyle H. Larkins

Lyle H. Larkins, 85, passed away at home on Monday, April 2, 2012 surrounded by his wife and children. Lyle was the son of Howard James and Lois Odd Larkins.

Dad fought as a paratrooper in World War II and took a bullet in his back which remained with him throughout his life. He was a member of the 18th Airborne, marched with the 101st in New York, transferred to the 11th Airborne and was stationed in Japan until the end of the war.

He grew up on a farm and enjoyed working with his family. His true passion was being a cowboy. He served Kaysville City as Police Chief for 30 years. He fought the good fight with faith and honor in everything he did and never complained. He will be remembered by all for his kindness, generosity, and willingness to help all he came in contact with. We will never forget Dad and will always remember and cherish his teachings.

Lyle was preceded in death by his son Terry Lee Larkins. Terry lost his life in a horseback riding accident at the young age of 38. Dad always said he was his true cowboy. Losing Terry was the biggest loss that Dad and Mom have had to endure. Lyle was also preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Gale Larkins, and his sister Gwen Robinson.

Lyle is survived by his wife, the love of his life Nancy; two sons Howard (Kris), Lane (Susan); and one daughter Tina (Carol Naylor, life partner); 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 7, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to services at the mortuary.
