Lyle James Taylor, 66, passed away Monday, November 14, 2011 at his home. Eighteen years ago he was given two years to live... he defied all odds. His determination filled our lives with many happy memories.
He was born September 8, 1945 in Ogden, Utah to Donald James and Armina Read Taylor. His father, Donald, passed away when Lyle was three years old. He was blessed when Melvin Widdison married his mother, Armina, and became his father. He lived his entire life in Hooper.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served as Sunday School president and a teacher for the Young Men.
Lyle served as a Hooper City Councilman, President of Ogden Kiwanis Club and in many capacities as a Little League and youth coach. He spent most of his working years as a Director of Finance for Transamerica Financial Services. At the time he was the youngest District Manager in company history. Lyle was the owner of Arrow Auto Auction Services. He also served in the Utah National Guard.
He enjoyed riding horses, raising paint horses; he was an avid sports fan and supporter of the Jazz, 49er''s, U of U and Weber State. He was a champion pool player.
Lyle is survived by two sons, Ryan (Tamarah) Taylor, Queen Creek, AZ; Wade Taylor, Ogden; three daughters, Michelle Taylor Schuetz, Roy; Nicolle T. (Jared) Brown, Hooper; Elizabeth Taylor, Ogden; and ten grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Dawn T. Rumsey, and two sons, Rhett and Todd Taylor.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 19th at 11 a.m.at the Hooper 3rd Ward Chapel, 5601 South 6100 West.
The family will meet with friends on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South and Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
Interment, Hooper Cemetery.
