Lynette Wescott

Lynette Webb Wescott (Nana)

Lynette Webb Wescott (Nana), of Layton, Utah, passed away Tuesday, June 6th, 2017, four days after her 73rd birthday.  She was born June 2nd, 1944, to Hugh and Evelyn Webb in Corvallis, Oregon.  She was the middle child and only girl.  She adored her two brothers, Hugh and Brian (deceased).  After battling Lewy Body Disease for the past five years, Lynette slipped away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving husband of almost 50 years, Donald F. Wescott, and her children.

Lynette graduated from BYU with a degree in Elementary Education in 1966, after spending a semester at the LDS Church School of Hawaii where she fell in love with the islands and met the love of her life, Donnie.  After they were married in the LDS Los Angeles Temple on July 22nd, 1967, they started their life in Provo, UT, and then moved to Salt Lake City.  They spent the next decade having six children and moving to Aurora, CO.  From 1980-1995, Lynette was busy shuttling her children from soccer games to dance practice to many other school activities.  She also spent many hours serving in different capacities in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  Her favorite calling was that of Ward Choir Director, and she enjoyed singing with the Colorado Mormon Chorale.  After their last child graduated from high school, Don and Lynette were off on their own empty nest adventures living in Dallas, TX, Ankeny, IA, back to Denver, CO, and finally settling in Layton, UT in 2005.  She then worked at Wells Fargo Bank in Ogden, UT until 2010.

Lynette was Nana (grandmother) to 18 grandchildren.  She loved to sing, dance around the house with her husband, visit Hawaii, listen to her children chat and tell stories, make and eat cookies, drink diet Squirt, chew on ice cubes, go swimming (or just sit in the sun), collect colorful scarves, giggle with and squeeze the grandchildren, cheer on any BYU sports team, plink around on the piano, and serve others in any way she could.  She was a fierce and loyal friend to many, a phenomenal example to her children, and a beloved eternal companion to her husband.

She is survived by her brother, Hugh, her husband Don, and her children: Marty (Gina), Brent (May), Sterling (Lisle), Cheralyn (Jason Smith), Adrienne (Jason Mietus), and Jasmine (Charlie Pulsipher).  Lynette will always be remembered for her kind smile, infectious laugh and generous personality.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Evergreen Chapel, 2535 East 1500 North, Layton, UT.  Friends may visit family Saturday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
