Lynn Baxter

September 13, 1933 — February 26, 2018

Lynn L. Baxter, 84, passed away February 26, 2018 at home in Kaysville, Utah.  He leaves his wife of 10 years Gayle Murdock Baxter, his daughters Sherri (Todd) Mabey, Lori (Baxter) Woodman, Terri (John) Call, Geri (Matt) Lehnardt, and Jennifer Tsosie (Will) Tourangeau, 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.  Born on September 13, 1933 in Pocatello, Idaho, to Clain and Irene Baxter.  He leaves a sister Joan (Marvin) Peay, sisters-in-law Barbara (Don) Cristy, Janiece (Larry) McBride and a special sister and brother, Nancy and Lowell Gould.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Carol, brother Raymond, and daughter Carolyn.

Lynn lived in Salt Lake City in his early years, graduated from West High School, and attended University of Utah where he was in the Marching Band.  He began working for the Desert News at age 10 and was always happy to explain that he paid his own way through his teen years and life.  He was married in the Salt Lake Temple to Carol Joyce Carlson on October 14, 1955.  Lynn formed his own carpet cleaning company, and had real estate rentals.  He worked at Eimco as a purchasing agent until he retired at 59.  He then pursued his love of gardening.

July 5, 2008 he married Gayle Murdock Baxter.  He served two missions for the LDS Church, the Orlando Temple with Carol and the Roseville California mission with Gayle.  He also served in various positions, Bishop in the Rose Park North Park 7th Ward.  There he formed many life time friendships.

Lynn enjoyed many outdoor activities, running, boating, racquet ball, and family home evening at the Deseret Gym in Salt Lake City.  He especially enjoyed Lake Powell trips with his family and the tent he built out of wood that stood the gale force winds.  He was an avid BYU sports fan and loved traveling.
