Lynn Hunsaker Benson, one of the kindest people to have lived in this world, passed peacefully away at the age of 85, on June 29, 2023, to join ancient friends and family anxiously awaiting him on the other side.
Lynn was born on July 7, 1937, along with his twin brother, Lyle, in Brigham City, Utah to Reuben and Sybil Benson and spent his early years in Honeyville, a small town just a few miles to the north. Later, Lynn and his family moved to Ogden, where he lived until graduating from Ben Lomond High School in 1955.
Lynn turned down full scholarships from Harvard and Columbia in order to attend Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, from which he graduated in 1959. Lynn later did graduate work at BYU, and remained a loyal BYU fan for life.
University was followed by three years in the Air Force, stationed in Texas, where he met and fell in love with Ann Musgrove. Before their marriage in 1965 in the Salt Lake Temple, Lynn served as a missionary in the LDS New England Mission under President Truman Madsen.
After living in California for several years, Lynn and Ann settled permanently in northern Utah. Lynn spent most of his professional years working in and managing industrial gas sales.
Lynn was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and impacted the lives of many in need through his quiet, humble service. He had great faith in matters of spirit, and a quiet confidence that, no matter the challenge or the nonsense, things would always work out.
Lynn was attentive, available, gentle, patient, wise, humble, clever, creative, humorous, loyal, and loving. The man loved running and completed 15 full marathons. He loved the beautiful, varied landscapes of Utah, ice cream, reading, Diet Coke with lemon, science fiction films, Bigfoot stories, traveling, and socializing with friends and family.
Lynn was preceded in death by his parents and by each of siblings, Erol, Lyle, Burnal, and Helen. (We can only imagine the shenanigans happening now with them all reunited...)
Lynn is survived by his sweet wife, Ann, and by his sons, David (Traci), Brett (Joan), and Scott. He leaves behind eight awesome grandchildren, Taylor (Kate), Matthew (Tori), Davis, Ellen (Tyler), Annie, Lauren, Haili, and Noah. He also leaves behind three fantastic great-grandchildren, Levi, Theo, and Ari. In addition, Lynn and Ann have many nephews and nieces along with their children and grandchildren, some of whom have already passed on, and all of whom Lynn loved deeply.

A simple outdoor memorial will be held at Washington Heights Memorial Park in Ogden Utah at 11:00 a.m. on Lynn's 86th birthday, July 7, 2023.
Thank you, Lynn. We love you and miss you. Keep the ice cream scoop chilled for us!
