Lynn Henry Denkers
OGDEN- Our loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Lynn Henry Denkers, 85, passed away at his home on November 16, 2012 surrounded by his family.
Lynn was born on May 19, 1927 in Ogden, a son of Henry Denkers, Jr. and Helen Peterson Denkers. After graduating from Ogden High School in 1945, he served in WWII in the US Navy-Pacific Theater. He was part of the Occupation of Japan from 1945 to 1946 and was part of General McArthur''s Staff in the Hiroshima and Tokyo areas.
Following the War, Lynn attended Weber State College and later married his sweetheart, Maxine Bitton on August 16, 1947. They were later sealed in the Ogden LDS Temple and together they had three children. Maxine passed away on October 21, 2001. They were married for 54 years.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings including Executive Secretary and Scout Leader. Lynn was also a member of the Ogden Transportation Club, the Ogden Chamber of Commerce, and a past board member at Key Bank. He also loved golfing, hunting, and fishing.
Lynn is survived by his sons, Randy (Elaine) Denkers and William (Merlyn) Denkers; daughter, Sherie (Scott) Stratford; 17 grandchildren, Traci, Danielle, Brian, Eric, Todd, Brad, Kelly, Lexie, Jennifer, Candace, Jared, Josh, Jake, Jared, Jason, Jenny, and Janesa and 17 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife Maxine, parents, and sister, Marilyn Denkers Gale.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Memorial Park Ward Chapel, 3755 Porter Ave. in Ogden. Family will meet with friends on Monday, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. and Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
The family wishes to thank Clint Wayment from Home and Family Care Services for all the love and concern he showed Lynn.
