Lynn D. Johnston

Our dear brother, Lynn D. Johnston, 76, of South Ogden (formerly of Norfolk, VA) passed away after a short illness on Friday, October 16, 2015.
Lynn was born to Charles L. and Erma Donnellon Johnston on August 5, 1939 in Ogden. He graduated from Weber High School in 1957 then from University of Utah in 1961. He joined the Peace Corps after graduation and spent two years educating native teachers in the Dominican Republic.
After completing his service he went to the University of New York, Brock Port for his masters then to Arizona State University, Tempe to do his Phd.
Upon completion of his studies he subsequently accepted a teaching position at Old Dominion University in Norfolk where he lived and taught for 42 years. He retired from ODU as comptroller. Lynn returned to Ogden in June 2010.
Lynn is survived by his brother, Rich (Staci) of Ogden; sisters, Carole Bell and Barbara (Varge deceased) Lowe both of Ogden, and Jackee (Dick deceased) Price of Pillager, Minnesota; also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by father, Charles; mother and stepfather, Erma D. and Morris L. Peters; niece, Marnie Richards; and his much loved dog, Benjie.
Many thanks to Stonehenge Care and Rehab for their dedicated care in his last days. Also special thanks to the employees of Moore’s Family Restaurant. We are grateful for the many acts of kindness extended to Lynn.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd. Friends may visit with family on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
