“Oh Lord it’s hard to be humble, when your perfect in every way!”
On May 13, 2023, just 3 weeks after Lynn’s beloved wife Merrilyn passed away, our father, grandpa, brother, and friend Lynn Dean Kirkman, fulfilled the words to his favorite song, by proving that he “wouldn’t last a month” without his eternal companion. Lynn and Merrilyn were married in the Salt Lake City Temple on June 18, 1971.
Lynn died at home, surrounded by family, after having a massive stroke.
Lynn was born on March 29, 1949 to Dean J and Shirley Elaine Olsen Kirkman. His early years were spent learning the trades of farming from his father and being spoiled by his mother and sister Sheila. Lynn graduated from Clearfield High School where he played football and basketball. He enjoyed serving as FFA president and participating in rodeos. Dad was a character, he loved to talk, laugh, and tease
everyone. These talents helped him to share his knowledge about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the people of Holland and throughout his life. He loved serving the Lord in the Young Men’s organization, Scouting, Sunday School, and the Bishopric.
He also enjoyed serving the community as a West Point City council member and President of both the Central Irrigation Company and Ogden Area Beef Feeders Association. He was proud of his agricultural history, operating the 150-year-old
family farm and raising prized Quarter horses for over 75 years. However, he was most proud of his family and especially his grandchildren. “To know me is to love me, I must be one HELL of a man! Oh Lord it’s hard to be humble, I’m just doing the best that I can”, and for us, Dad, You are and you did.
Lynn is survived by his sister Sheila Visser, three children: GeriLyn (David) Geisser, CodyAnn (Pedro) Zuniga Moncada, and Lonny (Shirlee) Kirkman. Ten grandchildren: Cash (Krystal) Ricks, TayLee Beard, Callie Ann Ricks, Jace (Kaitie) Beard, Joshua Beard, Cole Ricks, Jessica, MaryAnn, Rebekah and Samuel Kirkman. Three great grandchildren: Charley, Camden and Calvin and MANY beloved friends and family members, all of whom he cherished. He was preceded in death by his wife Merrilyn Brady Kirkman, his parents and parents in-law, two brother in-laws, a sister in-law and a son-in-law Tony Beard.
