Lynn Elton Mower
Lynn Elton Mower, 85, passed away peacefully at home in Layton, Utah on Monday, January 29, 2018.
Lynn Was Born May 1, 1932 in Fort Duchesne, Utah to Melvin Reed and Leona May Litster Mower. He was the second of twelve children. Lynn was raised in Montwell and Roosevelt, Utah and attended Schools there. He learned to work hard at an early age by helping on the farm. Later on, he attended Utah State Agricultural College (now Utah State University). It was there that he met Marie. They were married and sealed in the Logan Utah Temple on September 19, 1952.
Two weeks after they married, he was drafted into the United States Army where he served from 1952 to 1954. After being discharged he worked at HAFB for the next thirty-two years while raising their children, he attended Weber State College. He retired at age 55 when he and Marie built the house where she now resides. He held many callings in the LDS Church, but his favorite was Director of the Stake Family History Library, where he served for over twenty years. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, fast pitch baseball, coaching softball, lapidary work, woodworking, leatherwork, gardening, and family history.
Lynn is survived by his wife, Marie, to whom he was married for over sixty-five years. Living children include Vickie (Don) Vega, Judy (Gary) Cannon, Brenda Mower, Larry (Cathy) Mower, David (Alyson) Mower, JoAnne (Chad) Harward, Janet (Dan) Reynolds, and Stephen (Brooke) Mower. His living brother and sisters are Marilyn, Bettie, Kathleen, Karen, Dianne, Carl, Shirley, Cheryl and Linda. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Patricia, a great-grandson, Lincoln, and two brothers, Gale and Dick.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 8, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Valley View Stake Center, 1589 E. Gentile Street, Layton. Friends may visit family Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
The family would like to thank his extended family, friends, neighbors, doctors, nurses, and hospice team who cared for him in his hour of need.
