Lynn Oberg

Lynn Edwin Oberg

Lynn Edwin Oberg our loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family the evening of August 3, 2015, due to long-term health complications. He was 85 years-old, born on January 23, 1930, in Mayfield, Utah, to Edwin Oberg and Mary Elizabeth Jensen.

Lynn married Mary LaRue Tuttle in 1949 and had four children. LaRue passed away in 1964. Lynn married Lois Marie Oberg in 1965, joining his family with her three children and later welcoming an eighth child. Preceding him in death are his first wife LaRue, his second wife Lois, his son Mark and several brothers and sisters. He is survived by seven remaining children: Steven (Afsaneh) Oberg, Mike (Pam) Oberg, Dean Godfrey, Karen Gustaveson, (Shirley) Oberg, Scott Godfrey, Christina (David) Chandler, and Kathy (Scott) Vore as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He always cherished the time he spent with his family. He spent many hours helping Lois with her passion for genealogy. He loved working with his hands and built dollhouses, kitchen items, toys, and rocking horses, the proceeds of which allowed Lois and him to travel the world. During the last ten years of his life, he discovered the joy of carving, making his family and close friends personalized walking sticks and carved figures. His friends and even strangers felt his “Oberg charm” which was the phrase his daughter- in-law Shirley coined to explain the pull others felt towards him.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2015, at 11:00 am at the Gailey Park Ward Chapel, located at 331 South 50 West in Kaysville, Utah. Friends may visit family Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 am prior to services at the church.

Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
