Lynn Ostler

April 2, 1924 — September 17, 2018

Lynn Baker Ostler, 94, passed away on September 17, 2018, at his home in Layton, Utah.

He was born April 2, 1924, in Ogden, Utah, to Steven Lovell Ostler and Margaret Pearl Baker Ostler. He was the second of six children: Louise Hansen (deceased), Stephen (deceased), Marjorie Winward, Newell, and Eugene (deceased). He grew up on a ranch in Mountain Green, Utah - currently traversed by Trapper’s Loop - where he rode horses and climbed the hills as a boy while playing and working on the ranch. He graduated from Morgan High School. His parents later divorced. He helped his mother run the ranch until her untimely death.

He joined the Navy, serving for two years on the U.S.S. Idaho stationed off the coast of the Philippines. Upon his return, he went to the University of Utah where he pursued a degree in Agriculture. While there, he met his future wife, Connie Jean Rosenlund from Eureka, Utah. They were married the next year on June 24, 1947, in Ely, Nevada. They were blessed with six children: Suzanne, Colleen, David, Mark (deceased), Craig (deceased), and Paul; 12 grandchildren: Shawn, Shannon, York, Ryan, Tyson, Cameron, Leslie, Britney, Audrey, Breck, Melanie, and Svea; and 25 great-grandchildren.

He was employed by the Standard Oil Company, the United States Postal Service, and Hill Air Force Base. His real love, however, was farming and ranching, which he continued to do in a small way right up until the time of his death.

Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.  Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main.
