Mabel Estella Nester Draney peacefully passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2009 in Clearfield, UT at the age of 90.

She was born May 11, 1918 in Afton, WY; to Marion and Stella Nester and was the oldest of three children.

She married Ivin LaVell Draney on May 2, 1936 in Idaho Falls, ID; and their marriage was sealed for time and eternity in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on July 7, 1965.

Mabel spent her life in service to her family and those around her, and had a firm testimony of living an honest and frugal life which she lived and taught.

Ivin and Mabel had seven children; four of whom were born before Ivin left to serve in the Air Force in World War II. They lived in Osmond, Wyoming, Idaho Falls, Idaho, Thayne, Wyoming, and then bought their little home in Freedom, Idaho, where the children were raised and lived until they left home and married, except for their youngest daughter, Lorie who married after they moved to Logan, Utah.

Mabel loved to write poetry, work with wood and plant beautiful flowers. Many will remember her beautiful petunias that grew year after year in front of their home in Freedom.

After Ivin''s death in 1981, she married Doyle Allred in Logan, Utah in 1983, whom she later divorced.

She married Stan Steed in 1996 and lived in Auburn, Wyoming until she required assisted living and moved to Ogden, UT.

She is survived by her three sons, Ed (Carolyn), Colorado Springs, CO; Jerry (Georgia), Allegan, MI; Dale (Lorie), Carson City, NV; four daughters, Diane (David) Lemmon, Layton, UT; Carole Schen, Ogden, UT; Donna (Kirk) Rodgers, Lincoln, CA; Lorie Muir, Ogden, UT; 28 grandchildren, 69 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 16, 2009 at 9 a.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends and family may call Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the mortuary.
