Lucille Layton Richins
Mabel "Lucille" Layton Richins, age 91, was called home to her Heavenly Father, Savior, and loved ones, Tuesday, February 12, 2008.
She was born June 2, 1916, in Oakley, Idaho, to George Christopher Layton and Annie Louisa Secrist. She grew up in Kaysville and graduated from Davis High School in 1934. She attended Utah State Agricultural College and was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She also attended LDS Business College.
After meeting him on a blind date, Lucille married Leo Harvey Richins on March 20, 1940, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She was an active member of the LDS Church and held various positions in her ward and stake. She was an ordinance worker in the Salt Lake and Ogden Temples for 16 years. She and Leo served an LDS mission to Haines, Alaska from 1982-83.
Lucille and Leo owned a restaurant in Kaysville for 19 years called the Rich Inn, where they made many friends. She retired from Hill Air Force Base.
She loved the gospel, to read, and laugh and do things with family and friends. She was organized, a hard worker, and very astute. Her family, friends, and the gospel were her treasures in life. She was the epitome of Christ-like charity, selflessness, faith, integrity, obedience, generosity and kindness. She loved everyone, and will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
Surviving are her two sons and daughter-in-laws, Roger Layton and Martie Richins, Paul Harvey and Shari Richins; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother and sister-in-law, Alan W. and Mona Layton.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant daughter Marsha, and brothers and sisters, Vera Cottrell, Clarence Layton, Ralph Layton, Myron Layton, Mary Alice Crossen, Howard Layton, and Ruth Harrison.
Funeral services will be Saturday, February 16, 2008, at 11 am, at the Kaysville Rock Chapel, 200 E. Center Street. Friends and family may call Friday from 6 to 8 pm at Lindquist''s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 am at the church.
Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
