Mabel Anita Samora
CLEARFIELD – Mabel Anita Samora, 76, passed away Sunday, April 10, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born March 2, 1940 in Blanca, Colorado the daughter of Juan and Placida Mary Valdez Sanchez. Mabel resided in Blanca, Colorado for 14 years, Sante Fe, New Mexico for three years and the rest of her life in Utah.
Mabel married Henry Joseph Samora in 1962 in Elko, Nevada. They were later divorced but remained the best of friends.
She loved knitting, gardening, ceramics in her younger years. As she got older she loved crossword puzzles, coloring and spending time with family.
Surviving are her ex-husband, Henry Samora, son, Alfred Samora, daughter, Sheila (Tom) Nichols, Debbie Samora, Cherral O’Hanahan, Valerie (Noel) Hernandez, 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, brothers, John (Geri) Sanchez, Sam Sanchez, Manuel Sanchez, Tony Sanchez, sisters, Lee (Alex) Velasquez, Mary Sweeney, Virgie Lucero, Alice (Solomon) Rodriguez, Belma Martinez, Irene (Arthur) Yanez and Pearl (Tommy) Solorio.
Preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Jacqie and many brothers and sisters.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 15, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 210 South Chapel Street, Layton, Utah. Friends may visit family Thursday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. A Vigil with Rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m.
Interment, Clearfield City Cemetery.
