MacGowan Kelly

July 3, 1996 — February 18, 2019

MacGowan Patrick Kelly, 22, passed away unexpectedly Monday, February 18, 2019 at his home in Layton.

Mac was born July 3, 1996 in Ogden, Utah to Gregory Carroll Kelly and Jennifer Kelley. He grew up in Layton, West Haven, and Clinton. He graduated from Clearfield High School in 2014. After high school Mac held several odd jobs including a 6-month span at a dog rescue in California. In November 2015, he was hired by the Davis County Sheriff’s Office as a Jail Operations Specialist and was currently employed there at the time of his death.

Mac loved life, his friends, his family, and the Denver Broncos. He often took trips to see his beloved Broncos play and lived to see his dream come true of the Broncos winning Super Bowl 50. Mac was a friend to everyone he met and loved sharing jail stories with his co-workers. Mac had a special talent for being able to quote lines from South Park, Futurama, and Family Guy and he would have complete conversations with his step father just using these lines.

Mac was always taking care of his family and was always available to help them when they needed him.

He is survived by his father Greg, his mother Jennifer, and step-father Chad Marten, one brother Victor Kelly, two sisters Cheyenne Kelly and Tifani (Dave) Thomas, his grandparents Barbara and Bill Bennett, John and Debra Kelley, and Patrick and Linda Kelly, five nephews and one niece, several special cousins, and a wonderful extended family. He is also survived by his very dear friend Jonathan Jay Reyes.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Mac’s name to the Davis County Animal Control shelter.
