Madeline Margene Slaughter

After a courageous year long battle with cancer, Madeline Margene Slaughter returned home to her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, January 11, 2011.

Madey was born on July 19, 1995 to George and Michelle Slaughter of Layton, Utah. She is the third of four children and will be greatly missed by her two older sisters, Lindy and Hillary, as well as her younger brother Landon. Madey enjoyed lots of different activities and could often be found outdoors. She played basketball and softball and loved the time spent competing and hanging out with friends and teammates. Madey also loved to swim, fish, canoe, camp, and take pictures. She also enjoyed music and loved playing her guitar, making up songs on the piano, and singing loud for all to hear.

Madey also loved school and was blessed by good teachers growing up. She attended Creekside Elementary, and Fairfield Jr. High. As a ninth grader at Fairfield she was a member of Rhapsody, a choral performing group, and a captain on the girls'' basketball team. Madey was enrolled at Layton High this year and had hopes of playing basketball and softball with many former teammates and friends.

Madey will be greatly missed for her kindness to others, her love of life, her courageous example, and her heartwarming smile. She is survived by her parents George and Michelle Slaughter, sister and brother-in-law, Lindy and Cameron Thompson, sister Hillary, younger brother Landon, grandparents, Rodney and Linda Hill, grandmother, Catherine Slaughter, great-grandmother, Margene Hill, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and good friends.
