Madeline Carol Snyder

With her family at her side, Madeline Carol Snyder, born again on April 17, 1976, has died once (he that hath ears to hear let him hear), on January 14, 2021 and is today in the presence of her LORD.

Born December 7, 1947 in Orlando, Florida to Adrian E. Pearson and Martha N. McFarland Pearson, she was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Adrian E. Pearson, Jr., and sisters; Elizabeth A. Cain and Lydia Ruth Carr.

Following in the footsteps of her sisters who married into the U.S. Air Force, Madeline married Sgt. David Snyder in the McCoy AFB Chapel on January 27, 1968.  The newly married couple returned from their honeymoon to discover that the Air Force had issued orders for David’s reassignment to the Netherlands, Europe.  After the birth of David Jr., the three of them traveled through Belgium, Luxemburg, France, Spain, Italy, Austria, Switzerland and West Germany.  Then on their third anniversary Madeline and Dave traveled to West Berlin by car.  This entailed traveling the Autobahn through East Germany instead of riding the train as most military personnel did.  As a result, they witnessed firsthand the watch towers, barbed wire, machine guns, tanks and soldiers of a communist “Utopia”.

From Europe, they were assigned to Tennessee where their second son Robert was born on December 8, 1973, an hour after his mother’s birthday.  (Madeline went into labor on her birthday, but insisted on going out for her birthday dinner.  Her waitress, seeing her in labor, became distressed by her condition, but Madeline finished her steak dinner before Dave drove her to the hospital).

In following years the couple visited Canada, Greece, Turkey, and most exciting of all Israel, where they got to walk in the footsteps of Jesus.  Madeline and Dave also visited all 50 states of the USA during their 53 wonderful years of marriage.

In 1979 another Air Force assignment brought the family to Utah.  As born again Christians, Madeline and Dave were charter members of Faith Baptist Church, organized on November 4, 1979.  Madeline was a mentor and spiritual guide to many young women during her years at Faith Baptist.  She was also chief cook for the monthly men’s prayer breakfast at Faith, during which time she introduced the men of the west to the delicious taste of GRITS.

Madeline loved the ocean, particularly the Oregon Coast.  She and Dave took many summer vacations there, where they watched the seals, and even an occasional whale roam the ocean.

For all she loved in this life however, receiving Jesus as her Savior was the most enriching event of her life.  She wanted to share Jesus, salvation by grace and faith in the Lord!  To that end, Madeline’s favorite Bible verse was Galatians 2:20 “I am crucified with Christ; nevertheless I live; yet not I but Christ liveth in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh.  I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”

She is survived by her husband David,  brother Fred (Connie) Pearson, Tampa, FL., son David Jr. (Kim), Roy, UT., Robert (Shelly), Lakepoint, UT., eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren

Memorial services will be held Monday, January 18, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Faith Baptist Church 2430 No. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah.
