Madge Sweat Mecham
Madge Sweat Mecham, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother passed away at Lakeview Hospital on May 28, 2011 surrounded by her family. She was 92.
Madge was born on January 26, 1919 to Joseph Wells and Elsie May Sweat in Fruitland, Utah. She was ninth of 13 children all of whom preceded her in death. Madge married Edward Lloyd Mecham July 29, 1940. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on April 12, 1950. They were married for 59 years before Ed passed away on January 27, 1999.
It is said that it is our best work that God wants and Madge knew how to give best work. She could work long, hard and efficiently; few people could outwork Madge at farm work, cooking, canning, cleaning, tending children or anything else. She was raised on a farm and then during WWII she worked at Hill Field. Later she worked at Miller Floral, then Young World Day Care.
She has five children: Rose Price (Marvin, preceded in death), Lorna (Tim) Bargsley, Kevin Mecham, Naomi (Ed) Gaborski, and Louise (Dale) Thomas. Madge has 21 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful neighbors and friends who have given so many hours of loving care to Madge. We also want to thank the caregivers at Lakeview Hospital and Vista Care for their kind, sensitive care.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 2, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Steed Creek Chapel, 347 S. 200 W. in Farmington. Friends may visit family on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 N. Main and from 9:45 to 10:45 prior to services at the church.
Interment, Lakeview Memorial Estates, 1640 E. Lakeview Drive, Bountiful, UT.
