Madge Taylor Parker
1940-2014
Madge Taylor Parker peacefully passed away from glioblastoma on April 1, 2014 with her family by her side at her Bountiful, Utah home.
She was born on July 29, 1940 in Ogden, Utah to Blanche Nelson Taylor and Lawrence E. Taylor. Madge was raised in Ogden where she attended elementary through 12 th grade and graduated from Ogden High School in 1958. She attended Weber Jr. College, was a member of Otyokwa and met her future husband, Ronald Parker on campus. Ron and Madge were married on August 8, 1961 in Ogden and moved to Bountiful in 1967 where they raised their three daughters. She was a member of the LDS Church having served in the Young Women’s Organization.
Madge had many talents, most notably her unmatched abilities in quilting, appliqué and knitting. Her infant layette sets have warmed the lives of countless children. Madge shared her talents and abilities with many people during the years while working at Brook’s Fabrics. She was especially fond of her friends in the Bear Lake Quilting Guild. Her family will miss her fabulous meals. She was a loyal friend to many and her grandkids’ biggest fan. Madge was known for her wicked sense of humor and an infectious laugh.
She is survived by her husband Ron; three daughters, Shelly, Allison, and Roni; her five grandchildren, Charley, Abby, Madi, Izzy and Miles; sisters, Jerry (Charles) Lindquist, North Ogden; Shirley Harbertson, Bountiful; brother-in-law Thair H. Blackburn, South Ogden; and mother-in-law, Irene Drake Parker, Ogden. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter, Wendy, and her sister Joanne Blackburn.
Her family would like to thank Dr. Randy Jensen, Dr. Adam Cohen, Whitney Houser RN and the incredible staff at the Huntsman Cancer Institute and the University Hospital, Dr. Bill Swiler and the staff at Lakeview Hospital, and the caring staff from Summit Hospice. Her daughters would also like to thank their remarkable father for the amazing care he gave their mom in her last months.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, April 7, 2014 at Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E. where friends may visit family on Sunday April 6 th from 6-8 pm and Monday 11:30 am-12:30 pm prior to the services. Interment Bountiful City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to the Huntsman Cancer Institute.
