MAHON LADELL ASHCRAFT SMITH

1933-2021

Mahon Ladell Ashcraft Smith passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 21, 2021, in the home of her daughter Pam in Herriman, Utah, surrounded by her family.  She was 87 years old.

She was born in Bay City, Texas on October 3, 1933.  She married her sweetheart Samuel Boyd Smith in 1952, for time and all eternity, in the Salt Lake Temple.  Her husband Boyd, preceded her in death in 2018, after they had spent a wonderful fulfilling life together for over 67 years.  She missed him dearly but went forward with faith and courage knowing that they would soon be together again.

She graduated from Weber State University as a registered nurse and enjoyed working in several hospitals in the area for many years.  However, her most enjoyable time was spent working for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-days Saints as head nurse in the health unit.  She retired after 25 years of service.

Together Mahon and Boyd were called on 5 missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  They served in the Toronto Canada Temple, three missions in the Orlando Florida Temple and an 18-month mission in Nauvoo, Illinois.

Mahon is survived by four children; son Dennis (Lori) Smith of Orlando, Florida, her three daughters, Pam (Paul) Isaac of Herriman, Utah, Julie (Lon) Brian of Layton, Utah and Lalli (Ron) Durrant of Centerville, Utah.  Mahon and Boyd have 18 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 27, 2021 at 11:00 a.m., at Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary, (All COVID mandates will be followed) 727 N. 400 E. Bountiful where friends may visit that morning from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment Centerville City Cemetery.
