She and her daughters were baptized into the LDS Church by the missionaries and moved to Utah where she taught at Bunderson Elementary in Brigham City and then 1st grade at Willard Elementary for 17 years. After dedicating her life to teaching for 33 years, she retired in 2004. She made a trip to Toronto, Canada in 2006 with her daughters and grandchildren, to reunite with her sister Dora and family, and then in 2007 she was taken to India by her son-in-law and daughter, Kevin and Lisa Owen to reunite with her sister, Jane, and brother, Walter, and their families.
