Manuel Lopez Jacobo

June 12, 1941 — April 5, 2023

 

Manuel Lopez Jacobo, 81, a long-time Layton resident, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, with his family by his side.

 

Born on June 12, 1941, to Rafaela Lopez and Francisco Jacobo in Cucamonga, California Manuel was one of ten children. He attended schools in Upland and graduated from Upland High School in 1960.

 

Manuel met Maria Hernandez, and after courting, the two were married on September 12, 1964 in Irwindale, California.

 

They raised two children together, Sylvia and Manuel, Jr. They loved camping, watching football and baseball, and taking trips to Vegas and Wendover.

 

He enjoyed food and was a down to earth man.

 

For most of his working life he worked in plant nurseries and as an elevator and escalator repairman. He could fix just about anything.

 

Manuel also enjoyed making models and gardening. He loved to support his grandchildren in their sports endeavors, and he really loved his Westerns.

 

He will be remembered most for his straightforwardness, his incredible work ethic, and his devotion to his family.

 

Manuel is survived by his wife of 58 years, Maria H. Jacobo, Layton; daughter, Sylvia (Albert) Padilla, North Ogden; and son, Manuel (Rona) Jacobo, Jr., Layton; seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren; and by his sister, Mary Villalobos, Hesperia, CA; brother, Jose (Teresa) Jacobo, Ontario, CA, Torivio Acuna, San Bernardino, CA.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and all of his other siblings.

 

Private services will be held for the family at his request.

 

Cremation is in care of Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah.
