Marcella Balls Thompson Ronk passed away peacefully on September 1, 2015 in Layton, Utah of age related causes.

Marcella was born on September 20, 1926 in Hyde Park, Utah to Marguerite Gittins and Denton Aziel Balls. The family moved to Benson, Utah where she was raised along with her four siblings. Marcella graduated from North Cache High School in 1944. She was a member of the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps graduating from the Dee Hospital Cadet program in 1947. Marcella worked as a nurse in the Cache Valley Hospital in Logan, Utah; the Polio Ward of 54 Lakes Hospital in Boise, Idaho; and the Thomas Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah.

Marcella married Laurin LeRoy Thompson on August 20, 1948. Marcella and Laurin made their home in Ogden, Utah. Together they had five children. Laurin passed away suddenly in 1984. She married Paul H. Ronk on August 22, 1988. They moved to Florida where she resided until very recently. Paul passed away in 1997.

Marcella is survived by her children, Elaine (Jim) Davis, Carol (Vic) Dana, Dennis (Jeri) Thompson, and Denise (Max) Neff; her sister, Jennette (Dale) Reese; 24 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Laurin and Paul; her daughter, Nadine; her parents, and three siblings.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at 10 a.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.  Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
