Marcia Aline Strang, born on April 3, 1950, in the vibrant heart of Los Angeles, California, “dancing through life” until her departure on April 21, 2025, in Salt Lake City, Utah, leaving behind a legacy drenched in color, creativity, and warmth. As a cherished sister and aunt, she was the embodiment of a California dream—spunky, sassy, and undeniably stylish.
Graduating from Warren High School in Downey, CA in 1968, Marcia ventured forth to attend Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri. This pursuit led her to the esteemed ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, CA, where her passion for art and keen eye for color flourished. Her remarkable attention to detail infused life into every corner she touched, reflecting her vibrant personality.
Marcia was a California girl, her free spirit forever entwined with the sun and the beach. She could often be found basking in the golden rays, diamond rings sparkling brightly on her fingers as she relished moments in playful company. Her joyous escapades included trips to Disneyland, donning Mickey Mouse ears, and creating treasured memories while engaging with her adored niece and nephews. Often seen in her signature red, with a penchant for the posh and the luxurious, Marcia enjoyed being around friends of every walk of life.
Her passion extended beyond her artistic inclinations; she was a lover of cinematic storytelling and a devoted fan of quirky humor found in "Frazier” and in mystery/suspense the likes of “Castle” and “Grimm.” As the animal lover she was, Marcia also enjoyed nature and animal programming. The thrill of the stage captured her as she lost herself in the spell of productions like "Wicked," and loved ballet performances (especially anything with Rudolf Nureyev) where the enchantment of performance mirrored her own captivating spirit. She found inspiration in song writers like Bob Dylan, and was known to sing his songs while playing her guitar.
Marcia, a free-spirited soul accustomed to the finest, navigated life with a stubborn streak that was as endearing as it was formidable. Those who knew her could easily find her in a crowded room, despite her short stature. The laughter she sparked, the love she poured into family, and the unyielding charm she exuded were testaments to a life lived vividly.
In her final days, Marcia faced acute pneumonia with strength, courage, and faith surrounded by family whose hands she held tightly, reflecting the deep bonds she nurtured throughout her life. She was resolute in going peacefully into the night. She leaves behind her beloved sister Kathy (Stephen) Johnson, along with her cherished niece Jennifer (Charlie) Thiot, and nephews Marc (Lori) Johnson and Thomas (Krista) Johnson, 14 grand nieces and nephews, and her fur babies Taki and Piper, each carrying a piece of her radiant spirit forward.
Marcia was preceded in death by her parents Kenneth and Grace (Hanson) Strang.
As we reminisce about the woman who lit up every room, adorned with jewels and laughter, we hold onto the beautiful memories she gifted us—those sun-soaked days at the beach, games played in good company, and the unbreakable ties of family who will forever honor her vibrant legacy.
Marcia, you are deeply missed, and your light will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those you loved.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Please refer to this obituary posting for updates.
