Marcial Tayag

Marcial S. Tayag, age 88, died May 6, 2021 of causes incident to age.

Marcial was born into a family who loved and embraced him in all that he is.  His parents were Marcelino and Leonila Tayag.  Marcial was born on October 13, 1932 in Pampanga, Philippines.  He was raised in Dau Mabalacat Pampanga, Philippines and graduated from Saint Anthony High School in Mabalacat Pampanga, Philippines.

He married Estela D. Capili on August 5, 1959.  They have been married for 62 wonderful and challenging years.  Marcial loved gardening and mowing lawns.  When his grandchildren were little, he loved driving and taking them to school and McDonald.  He was a very hardworking man.  He worked as a construction worker in so many places around the globe such as the Philippines, Guam, and Saudi Arabia.  He then migrated to the United States in 1985 and worked in many places as a food service worker in Southern California.  He moved to Utah in March of 1988 with his daughter whose husband served in the United States Air Force, assigned at Hill AFB.  He worked several jobs in Utah but the job he enjoyed the most was as a food service worker in the military dining facility wherein, he took pride of serving the U.S. Service Men.

Marcial kept himself busy mowing his own lawn and his children’s lawns when he was not at work.  He was always active and doing chores.  He liked to go to stores, buy groceries and stuffs for his grandchildren.

Marcial was an amazing healthy person, very seldom did he get sick and only visited his doctor for his yearly physical exam.   He had one minor medical surgery and that was when he was 83 years old for kidney stones.

He is survived by his loving wife, Estela, his five children: Luz (Ronald), Antonio, Marcial Jr. aka Jun, Nestor (Hiyasmin), Nomer (Marie): five Grandchildren: Arnold, Jerome, Justin, Kyle, and Ryan; 2 Brothers: Fortunato (Pete) who resides in the Philippines and Jose (Pepe) residing in Southern California.

Marcial will be with the Lord Jesus Christ in heaven where tears, pains and suffering doesn’t exist and with his father: Marcelino, mother: Leonila Loleng, father-in-law: Benjamin and mother-in-law: Jesusa  (Susing),  four siblings: Feliciam (Ising), Melquladez (Adik), Mateo (Teo) and Bienvenido (Aido).

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Lindquist’s Syracuse Mortuary, 869 S. 2000 W. Syracuse.  Friends may visit family Wednesday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary.
