MARDEE JEANETTE VAN RY HANLEY
1936 – 2018
Mardee Jeanette Van Ry Hanley, our beautiful, gracious, and strong mother and grandmother died a week before her 82nd birthday in Bountiful, Utah. Mardee’s greatest joy was being a wonderful mother to Kari Jo Schuh and a grandmother to Brice Richelle Schuh.
She was born November 22, 1936 to Otto and Margaret Lawson Van Ry and was the second of four children: Ron (Barbara) Van Ry, Jolynn Christensen (deceased), and Otto (Carolyn) Van Ry. She also left behind many nieces and nephews whom she loved.
She was proud to be of Dutch heritage, and especially loved tulips.
Mardee was a strong and dedicated teacher in the Davis School District; her career of teaching included Farmington Elementary where she made lifelong friendships with fellow teachers. She retired early to care for her aging parents and then later volunteered in the classroom. She found joy in helping children learn and grow. She also enjoyed sharing sugar cookies with the neighborhood children. She was a clever writer and enjoyed creating whimsical stories.
