Mardyne Hill Jorgensen Stevenson

The truly beloved Mardyne Hill Jorgensen Stevenson, peacefully left this life in the early hours of the 29th of December 2013, one day after quietly celebrating 62 years of marriage to her husband, retired Air Force Colonel Sharman R. Stevenson. Mardyne, affectionately known as Mardy, was the daughter of the late Francis and Adoline Hill Jorgensen of Logan, Utah. She graduated from Utah State University in 1950 in Sociology and was a member of Alpha Sigma Nu, an exclusive national honorary social fraternity. Her desire to serve others started with her work in the community. She worked in the Logan juvenile court program while working her way through college and in her retired years, taught ESL (English as Second Language) at the Davis School District for over 15 years.

Mardy and Sharman were sealed for eternity in the Salt Lake Temple and had an adventurous 30 out of 62 years, serving in the United States Air Force. They had 22 moves and lived in four different countries. Mardy patiently supported and raised their family of five.  In addition, she faithfully served in church positions and contributed greatly to many communities through her piano playing, singing and volunteer work. She was recognized by the Peacefield Ward Primary children for her 9 years of service to them. She served faithfully at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building for 17 plus years and so loved her shift supervisors and the rest of the team. She also served at Davis Hospital for years as a volunteer.

Mardy’s life was to love her family and she was greatly loved in return by her extended family and many friends. She is survived, and will always be cherished, by her husband Sharman and her very special five children and their spouses, Jorli Hillman (Kerry), Scott (Francee) , Bradford (Robin), Gregory (Kristine, deceased), and Chris (Shari), as well as 15 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Also survived by close and loving sister-in-law, Sally (Rulon) Weaver, brother-in-law, Sterling (Marilyn) Stevenson, and special close cousin and co-worker at Davis Hospital and Medical Center, Elea (Richard deceased) Stevenson.

Mardy is now reunited with her parents and brother Clyde and his wife, Arlene. Also, her daughter-in-law Kristine Komm Stevenson, as well as her grandchildren: Keri Jo Hillman and Payton Orchard.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Valley View Stake Center, 1589 East Gentile Street, Layton, UT.  Friends may visit family Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.  Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
