Margaret Ann “Maggie” Barbknecht

June 22, 1947 ~ June 23, 2017

Mom was born on June 22, 1947 to Tolbert and Verlynn Bassett in Atlanta, Georgia. Mom married our dad, John W. Buchanan, in November 1966. Together they had us three kids, Angela Buchanan, Wayne Buchanan, and Joann Buchanan; three grandchildren, Birttany (Spencer) Dean, Zachary (Symiah) Buchanan, and Kaitlynn Buchanan; two great-grandchildren, Zaiden and Paisley Buchanan.  Our parents divorced in 1982 and mom remarried in 1984 to Vern Barbknecht.

Mom was the most loving, sweetest woman we ever knew! But boy did she sure have a temper! She enjoyed crocheting, ceramics, word searches, and writing recipes, but mostly spending time with us kids. Mom decided it was time to return to her heavenly home on Friday, June 23, 2017. And will be greatly missed by everyone who’s heart she has touched.

Maggie is survived by her three children, three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren; her sisters, Patricia, Carol, and Lynn; and her brothers, Buck and Ricky. Mom was preceded in death by her husband, Vern; parents, three brothers, Bo, David, and Sammy; and her little sister, Betty, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and her grandparents.

We would like to give a special thanks the Dan Phellps and the staff at Eden Beehive and the amazing staff at Crestwood Care Center for all the love and care you gave our Mom, and CNS Hospice for giving her comfort.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Mom at a later date where a lite lunch will be provided.

Rest in Paradise Mom, we love you and will miss you forever.
