Margaret Gallegos Sandoval Morris Craig

Our Mom left this world the same way she came into it. She was kicking and screaming.  Margaret Gallegos Sandoval Morris Craig (now there is a mouthful) died January 10, 2015.  She loved her life and was not ready to leave her family but we all take comfort in the fact that she is having a lot of beautiful reunions.  Heaven is a little louder now with all the laughter.

Mom was born in Park View, New Mexico on July 18, 1919 to Adolpho and Ramona Clarke Gallegos.  She spent her youth on the family farm with her 10 siblings and from the stories we have heard she was a handful.

She married our Dad, Joe Chris Sandoval on June 24, 1935.  They moved to Ogden and spent 35 years together raising 7 daughters.  Rae Russo, Marylou Adra (Bill), Margie Harrop (Marv), Vangie Hartvickson (Howard), Rosita Bowen (Chuck), Chris Thomas (Mike), Tina Lambert (Bob). Mom was blessed with 18 Grandchildren, 28 Great Grandchildren and 5 Great-Great Grandchildren.

She always had such a wonderful accent and when people asked where she was from she always said “Sunset, Uta”.  When Dad passed she spent 7 years being an independent woman.  Learning all kinds of new things and impressing all of us with her fearless love of life.  On August 24, 1977, Mom married Lyle A. Morris.  They enjoyed 23years together golfing and traveling and deciphering Mom’s accent.  None of us will ever forget the coke and a donut story. After Lyle’s passing, she fell in love with her neighbor of 45 years, Ronald Craig.  They married May 18, 2001 and enjoyed gambling, dancing and just plain giggling.

Mom was preceded in death by two daughters and son-in-law John Russo.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 16, 2015 at 10 a.m. at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 210 South Chapel Street, Layton, Utah.  Friends may visit family Thursday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Road.  A Vigil with Rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m.  Interment,  Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road, South Ogden.
