Margaret Porter Egbert

Our sweet angel mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and neighbor, Margaret Porter Egbert, passed away Sunday, September 7, 2008 at McKay-Dee Hospital of heart failure.

Margaret was born September 10, 1923 in Ashton, Idaho to Melvin Homer and Ada C. Porter. She married Keith Egbert on February 5, 1941 in Lewiston, Utah. Together they raised five children. They lived in Idaho, Willard, Ogden, and Kanesville. They moved to Sunset in 1949.

Mom was a member of the LDS church. She loved the church and had a firm testimony of her Savior. She served in many callings with love and compassion. The children in her Sunset ward and neighborhood will always remember her as "Grandma Gum".

Our mom truly had a heart like Jesus. She loved all of us unconditionally, and without judgment. She never spoke ill of anyone. She was the perfect example of charity.

Her grandkids were her life. She made sure that every single one knew that she loved them. She never raised her voice or spoke in anger to any of them. They will remember her sweet way of loving them forever.

The Christmas parties, birthday parties, and family reunions will go on as she wanted, but they will never be the same without her. She leaves behind a large wonderful family who will miss her so much. We will strive to live and love the way she taught us to.

She is survived by five loving children: Dan (Sandee), Sandra Jackson (Jerry), Kathleen Peterson (Glen), David (Linda), and Mike; 19 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, Jack Porter, Reed Porter, and many nieces and nephews.

She was to turn 85 on September 10, 2008 and her party was all planned, but we believe she got her birthday wish early. We know with certainty that she is celebrating with Dad, her mother and father, her brothers, Port and Dale, and her sister Yvonne. What a great birthday that will be!

The family would like to especially thank, Shaunna & Brent Heinbach (granddaughter), for loving and taking care of mom the last several years.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 11th at 11:00 a.m. at the Sunset 5th Ward Chapel, 2431 North 250 West, with Bishop Jay Gregory officiating.

Friends and family may call Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South and Thursday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m., at the church.

Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd.
